[MELC] Inspire Work Productivity and Patriotism this Merdeka with the Malaysian Employment Laws Conference 2023

Human Resources, a common word all working individuals hear and deal with almost every other day. The Human Resource department is often known as the backbone of an organization. It is called the backbone for a reason as being the central support structure to an organization can be a rather complex task. They play an integral role in managing and satisfying employee needs. As Henry Ford once said, “if everyone is moving forward together then success takes care of itself!

Question is, how do we ensure that everyone is in fact moving forward together? How do we ensure employee needs are met to increase productivity of an organization? These may sound like very easy to achieve but in reality, the situation can sometimes get really challenging. In the HR field, nothing is set in stone. The Employment Act 1955 (EA 1955) now governs all employees regardless of their income and it is an essential for every working individual out there to educate themselves and keep up in pace with the general laws and regulations, even more so now after the EA 1955 was amended in 2022. Employers too need to ensure their organization’s contracts and policies are in line with the current Labour Laws.

You might then say that the answers to the questions above and the amendments and other laws can be read online as there are already so many articles posted on the internet and you are absolutely right for saying this! But it isn’t every year that the EA 1955 is being revised and it is indeed beneficial for you as an individual and your organization as a whole to experience being first handedly educated and updated by the authors of these very articles pertaining to HR that you read online. Not only that, you will also get the chance to interact and exchange ideas with some highly experienced and knowledgeable individuals throughout the conference.

The Conference also has in stored a special segment paneled by the talented Puan Suraiya Ch’ng, Head of Legal Unit from the Labour Department and Dato Ahmad Rosli, former Chairman of the Industrial Court and current Chairman of the MACC’s Operations Assessment Panel to share their insights of the Industrial and Labour Courts. The Deputy Director of Legislation and Enforcement Division from the Labour Department (Jabatan Tenaga Kerja), Mr Ahamad Kamal will also be joining us to share his personal view on implementing workplace standards in compliance with the latest amendments to the Employment Act 1955.

This writeup only reveals the names of 3 speakers, but we have 12 other prestigious speakers specialized in the HR sector joining us. These individuals are from various organizations like Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM), PERKESO, partners from Malaysia’s finest law firms such as Messrs Lee Hishamuddin Allen & Gledhill (LHAG), Messrs Shearn Delamore & Co, Messrs Donovan & Ho and Messrs Ravindran, Singapore’s top management consultants, Eden Strategy Institute, Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) and many more versatile individuals!

Now, how often do you find the country’s finest cream of the crop in the HR industry all under one roof as panel speakers educating you on various comprehensive topics for such a nominal fee? MELC 2022 was a huge success and we are back this time with an aim to enlighten you and your organization on many other topics that will inspire productivity, growth and create a harmonious workplace environment.

With National Day around the corner, how are you and your organization celebrating Merdeka this year?
